0302/08 at home against Trowbridge

Today's game against Trowbridge started brightly with Swindon putting some good phases of their training together. Swindon started against the breeze and managed to string their passes together creating space out wide for the runners on the wing. With fairly evenly matched sides Trowbridge scored across Swindon's line scoring the first two tries of the match with only one converted. Swindon did not let their heads drop and created some space for Matt Tanner to sprint from inside his own half to score a try under the posts and then converted by Cameron Panting. In the closing minutes of the first half Cameron Panting dummied the ball out wide only to step inside Trowbridge's line. Try converted by Fraser Berry.

Half time score: Swindon 14 - Trowbridge 12

With the second half underway Swindon lost their momentum, struggling to create the space and gain the upper hand. Trowbridge kept up the pressure and crossed Swindon's line twice to push their score to 24 points. Swindon had a number of runs into their opponents half without putting points on the board.

16/12/07 away at Trowbridge

We travelled to Trowbridge with the aim of securing our path to the Wilts semi finals.
Both side were very evenly matched but with Trowbridge maintaining most of the
territory holding Swindon in their own half. With a sustained period of play in the
Swindon 22 Trowbridge crossed the line scoring the first points. Swindon maintained
their composure and managed to string some passes along the back line to give
Cameron Russell some space on the wing. He received the ball mid way between his
own 22 and half way and proceeded to out sprint any Trowbridge defence scoring
under the posts. This was converted by Cameron Panting and ended the first half.

Trowbridge 5 Swindon 7

The second half went the same way as the first with Trowbridge pressing in the Swindon
half. Swindon showed some excellent defence both forwards and backs. Swindon on a
couple of occasions looked to create the space out wide only to either loose the ball
or Trowbridge closed the gap.
From Front row to Full Back the lads battled only to see Trowbridge cross the line in the
corner as we left the one space out wide. Swindon heads didn't drop but they were unable
to retrieve a try to win the game.

Final Score
Trowbridge 10 Swindon 7

Well done to Cameron Russell picking up the Man of the Match today. There were a number
of players in the running. So well done Cameron.

Swindon will have to wait and see the result of Trowbridge v's Bassett to see if we make
it through to the semis.

Unfortunately Stroud only arrived with 12 players and so Swindon made up their team. With Stroud not their strongest, Swindon found it fairly easy to run in 7 tries with two conversions making the final score 39 points to nil.

Swindon played reasonably well in the blustery conditions managing to get the ball along the line to spread the Stroud defence. playing with the wind Swindon notched up 3 tries (Ryan Gardo, Cameron Panting and Connor Jones) and 2 conversions from Cameron Panting and Fraser Berry. Ending the first half 19 - 0.

The second half began with Swindon facing the elements and having to play a closer game and again during the second half managed to score a further 4 tries (Ryan Gardo, Cameron Panting, Fraser Berry and Jason Nepomueno) and no conversions. Ending the match 39 - 0.

With some good performances from a number of Swindon players but with the 'man of the match' trophy being awarded to Jason Nepomueno for his solid defence and attacking runs. Well done Jason.
