Match Reports (Most recent at Top)28/10/07 at ChippenhamTeam: ieuan whelan [c], ethan campbell, jack sole, jack hubble, jacob marsh, matthew roylance, daniel jermy, connor burt, troy roylance, alex stephenson, jack wilson, leigh rose, harry usher and edward watkins. swindon 4 v chippenham b 1 swindon played an amazing game of rugby today.they rucked brilliantly and defended even better they all put 100% into this game and the end score shows that.there were some great runs from all over the field with two forwards both crossing the line.jacob marsh crossed with the first try, chippenham then came back with a try from kick off but swindon didnt let that get them down and came back with connor burt crossing twice and edward scoring a try in his first ever game.swindon really used their heads in this game and worked as a team.our scrum was great and ieuan did a great job as scrum half putting real pressure on the opposite scrum half. well done boys on a well deserved win. ps happy birthday to andy from his team. swindon 0 v chippenham a 3 in this game swindon still played excellent rugby but were out powered in the scrum.our boys did well to be only one nil down at half time.we defended well and were playing against a strong team.chippenham crossed again and then in the dying mins were awarded a penalty which they took very quickly without our boys being warned or ready [which i must say seemed unfair from many swindon parents point of view as we thought the defending team had to be back 7 metres but we were not the ref.....][see note below - ed.] well done boys for playing such fair and entertaining rugby. we didnt play maidenhead as by this time all the boys were wet, cold, tired and a few were hurting. thanks guys see u next week A note on Quick Penalties at U11The parents mentioned above are wrong. Section 3 (a) of the Continuum Rules
of Play for U9s and U10s (the
full text of which is available here) clearly states: "On penalty restarts,
a quickly taken free pass whilst the opponents are retiring is not permitted." However, the corresponding rules for the U11s and U12s (the
full text of which is available here) are different, and quick penalties are
not banned. Since the Continuum Rules are modifications of the iRB's Laws of the
Game (the grown-up rules), and since quick penalties are allowed under those
rules, the fact is that quick penalties ARE allowed at U11 (and above). So the referee was right, and well done to Chippenham for doing their homework. 14/10/07 At the Reading FestivalTeam whelan [c], jack hubble, michael alsop, jack sole, jacob marsh, leigh rose, jack wilson, connor burt, matthew roylance, alex stephenson and daniel jermy. Firstly we would like to say a huge thank you to Duncan, Luke, Caisley, Lesedi, Karan and Harry from Reading for helping us out they all played really well for us so thanks for being so sporting guys and thanks to the whole reading team for a great day of rugby. Swindon 0- Reading 3 in this game both teams played great fair rugby its always a pleasure to play against Reading. Swindon were unlucky to lose this game 3 nil but they played brilliantly.... Swindon 0- Grove 3 Again Swindon played well with a few decisions going against them. Swindon got close to scoring a couple of times but just couldn't find a way through Grove's defence... Swindon 0- Aldershot & Fleet 0 This game was a well fought game from both sides both teams defended well and there were a few good attacks too ..... Swindon 0- Reading Abbey 1 Swindon played some of the best rugby of the day during this match. They defended well and put in some great attacks. A few decisions went against our boys and the score line doesn't reflect the game. There were a few knocks during this match and they were unlucky to lose this bruising game and there were a few very high dangerous tackles thrown by Abbey. Swindon also scored a try in the dying moments of the game which the referee didn't allow. Well done to Swindon boys.... Swindon 0- Bracknell 4 Some of the team were very tired during this game but still managed to put in some great tackles and form a few attacks but unfortunately still lost four nil. Well done Swindon you all played well and should be very pleased with yourselves. 07/10/07 At the Wootton Bassett FestivalTeam:ieuan whelan, connor burt, jack sole, troy broadway, daniel jermy, alex stephenson, leigh rose, ethan campbell, gareth perkins, matthew roylance, jack hubble, jacob marsh and michael alsop. Swindon 0- Corsham 1 Swindon played brilliant rugby during the first half of this game but seemed
to lose some concentration during the second half and lost the game one
nil........... Swindon 0-CATS 4 The score line does not reflect the rugby played during this game. Again
Swindon played great, fair rugby and were unlucky to concede 4 tries... Swindon 0- Wootton Bassett 5 This game was a hard game of rugby with a few of our lads being tackled
extremely hard. Bassett were lucky enough to have enough subs to change the
whole team at half time so our tired boys did well to not have a bigger
defeat.... Swindon did well during this festival and the boys should be proud of themselves they were well disciplined, fair and had to play every minute of every game. well done boys!!! 30/09/07 At home against Devizesteam: ieuan whelan (c), connor burt, leigh rose, jack wilson, daniel jermy,
harry usher, micheal alsop, matthew roylance, jack sole and jacob marsh. Today Swindon played their first game of the season against Devizes. this
year the boys have to get used to a very different game with lots of new things
to get used to. we started the season a few players down so Devizes very
sportingly loaned us a few players whom played very well for us so firstly we
would like to say thank you for that. Swindon played well against a very strong
Devizes team but failed to cross the line and lost the first match 5-0. Swindon 0 - Devizes 5 In the second game Swindon came to life and defended well but Devizes scored twice and Swindon managed to cross the line but Devizes held up the Ball. Well done to all the boys. It was a great game of rugby with great
sportsmanship. Swindon 0 - Devizes 2 |
