Match review
Swindon v Witney (A)
The game got off to a quick start with Witney breaking away with a strong run
and scoring an early try against Swindon. The first half saw a further 2 tries
from Witney, although Swindon calmed down at the end of the first half and
started to gain more possession. The second half commenced with Witney once
again taking an early try, however Swindon managed to regain composure and a try
from Declan Thomas put points on the board for Swindon. At this stage, the two
teams started to look more evenly balanced. A further try came from Witney, but
Swindon were quick to respond with further tries coming from Greg Wilkes and an
excellent run giving Katie Carter a try. Swindon finally found a style to take
on Witneys fast game, but it was a technique that they found just too late. The
3 tries for Swindon were clinically converted by Jacob Ford.
Swindon v Abingdon
Swindon regrouped after the defeat against Witney, and took stock of their
tactics. The new approach paid off, with first half tries coming from Sam
Williams and Thomas Van Der Mevlan. A cheeky snatch from an Abingdon throw in,
and a quick run by Jerome Davies gave Swindon a 3-try advantage at half time. In
the second half, Declan Thomas and Sam Williams scored a further 2 tries,
providing Swindon with a convincing victory. Abingdon scored no points.
All of the 5 Swindon tries were converted precisely by Jacob Ford
Abingdon provided a morning of well organised, and good atmosphere rugby for
Swindon and Witney.

Match review
The festival was kindly organised and hosted by Wootton Bassett. 5 teams
played each other, 6 minutes each way. Swindon was warmed up for this afternoon
start having played and beaten Minety in the morning (at Minety).
First up for Swindon were the Barbarians, who proved to be a strong team,
with some good tackling and kicking, but failing to break Swindon with a final
tries score of 4-0 to Swindon.
The second team to face Swindon were Corsham, a team that has proven to be
strong competitors in the past. On this occasion however, Swindon managed to
keep the upper hand and after a tough game the final score line was Swindon 2
Corsham 1.
Next on the rota was another old contestant, Cooper Avon / Melksham. A
similar game proceeded as Corsham, with the final score of Swindon 2 , Melksham
1 belying the excellent effort that both teams put into the match. Swindon
winning final with the powerful pack and strong running tackling that kept their
opponents on the back foot.
With three wins under their belts Swindon approached Wootton Bassett in the
last game, Wootton Bassett also having won all of their games, so this was in
effect the final! Bassett were very strong, with aggressive running, good
kicking and strong driving, playing in effect a very similar game to Swindon
(they seemed an equally matched pair). In the end, Bassett managed a break from
a ruck, and a quick run secured them the only try of the game, but it was enough
to secure them a win and force Swindon into the runner up position!
Final festival ranking:-
1st Wootton Bassett
2nd Swindon

Match review
The weather for this away match at Minety was perfect rugby conditions, with
soft ground underfoot, and a bright sunny autumnal day. The first half saw
Swindon take a very dominant lead, with strength from the forwards driving the
ball into Minetys half. The second half produced a slightly more confident
Minety, with better tackling and some stronger runs. In the end it wasnt enough
however, and resulting in tries for the following Swindon Players, Declan
Thomas, Jack Kimber, Katie, Philip Rees, and Sam Williams. Greg, Nick Arrell,
Liam Donohue, Nick Arrell, all scorred 2 tries a piece.
Jacob Ford managed converted 7 tries very precisely, and Sam Williams
converted a further 1 try.
Minety scored a try and converted in the last few minutes of the second half
after a strong drive and some good passing.
Final score Swindon 71, Minety 7
